{"id":341,"date":"2010-03-17T18:44:08","date_gmt":"2010-03-17T13:14:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/arunachala-live.com\/wordpress\/?p=341"},"modified":"2010-03-17T18:44:08","modified_gmt":"2010-03-17T13:14:08","slug":"mahashivaratri","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.arunachala-live.com\/wordpress\/?p=341","title":{"rendered":"Mahashivaratri"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arunachala-live.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/DSCF0365.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  size-full wp-image-343\" style=\"margin-left: 1px; margin-right: 7px;\" title=\"Shivaratri\" src=\"http:\/\/arunachala-live.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/DSCF0365.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"223\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana';\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">This year saw an unusual tilt to the annual Mahashivatri festival in Tamil Nadu for it was celebrated on two days due to a difference between the dravidian (lunar) and aryan (solar) calendars. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana';\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">So, after it <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana';\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">was celebrated all over India in <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana';\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">February, it was celebrated in March in some parts of TamilNadu notably in Tiruvannamalai.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana';\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">At the big temple of Arunachala there were awesome kolams drawn on the floors representing Lord Shiva and his consort Parvathi. There was also an incredible array of oil lamps (more than 100000) burning everywhere, lit by devotees and creating an ambience of sacredness and piety.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/arunachala-live.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/DSCF0369.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-342 alignleft\" title=\"DSCF0369\" src=\"http:\/\/arunachala-live.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/DSCF0369.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><span style=\"font-family: 'Verdana';\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Giri Pradakshina was performed all through the night by hundreds well into the wee hours of the morning.
